In ancient Korea, life was marked by fragility and uncertainty. The rice fields bore witness to the villagers’ daily struggle and hunger; the markets echoed with the constant murmur of trade and prayers. Yet even in the darkest times, music held a sacred place: it was not mere entertainment, but Jeong (정, emotional connection) and Gi (기, vital energy) — the force that sustained hearts and kept at bay the spirits and demons lurking in the shadows. Each song was a bridge between the human and the divine, each melody a thread weaving harmony through the natural and spiritual worlds.

The ancients believed that sound could influence the earth, the wind, and the water. Traditional instruments such as the janggu, a double-headed drum, spoke in low and high tones that echoed the human heartbeat. The daegeum bamboo flute released deep, melancholic notes capable of calming storms and purifying the spirit. The strings of the gayageum and geomungo told stories of love, loss, and triumph over adversity. Music itself was an act of balance and respect: when performed carelessly, it could summon chaos; but when played with precision and heart, it could protect and restore life.13740621693?profile=RESIZE_710x

In the villages, musicians were unrecognized guardians. Their songs strengthened warriors, comforted the afflicted, and maintained harmony in their surroundings. Yet the villagers knew that echoes from the spiritual world could slip through the notes — and those unprepared could be ensnared, falling into confusion and fear. From this need arose the idea of special guardians: voices able to channel the energy of instruments and melody to protect humankind and contain chaos.

It was within this world that the first Huntrix were born — three young guardians of balance and light, each deeply connected to her homeland and its natural element:

Haneul (하늘, Sky/Fire) — whose song burned like the dawn, instilling courage and strength in those who had lost all hope.

Byeol (별, Star/Moonlight) — who calmed storms and guided the lost, illuminating the path for those wandering in darkness.

Baram (바람, Wind/Storm) — who stirred change and renewed what was broken, bringing freedom and energy where despair had petrified life.

Together they journeyed through devastated villages, carrying sacred instruments — the janggu, daegeum, and gayageum — whose united resonance could balance the Jeong and Gi of humans and spirits alike. Each melody had to be performed with utmost care; a single mistake could weaken the barrier between the human realm and the corrupted echoes of the spirit plane. They taught the villagers to harmonize with music so that their energy could flow safely and strengthen everyone’s spirit.

The climax of their mission came when spirits of chaos tried to break through into the most vulnerable village. Realizing that none of them could withstand the threat alone, Haneul, Byeol, and Baram joined their voices and Gi in a single chant. The instruments resounded as one — the drums beat with the pulse of the world, the flutes carried the melody to the heavens, and the strings of the gayageum wove a mantle of light and strength.

From that union emerged theHonmoon (혼문, Seal of Protection), a spell that divided reality into two planes: the visible world and the world of echoes. The Honmoon trapped the corrupted energies, sealed their power, and protected humanity for centuries. The victory of the first Huntrix was not only physical but also an act of love, harmony, and wisdom: they proved that music could be more powerful than any weapon — that every note could heal and awaken hope.

Centuries later, the legacy of Haneul, Byeol, and Baram was reborn in the new Huntrix — a modern trio of idols who blend music, magic, and myth. Every stage becomes a Hwanghak (황학, spiritual battlefield), where music purifies corrupted echoes and the fans, unknowingly, sustain the world’s energy. Their singing does not merely entertain; it restores, protects, and connects generations, reminding all that light can always rise from harmony.

“We don’t fight demons — we turn them into music.”
